The European Surveillance of Antimicrobial Consumption (ESAC) project collects data on antimicrobial consumption in ambulatory care and hospital settings from 34 European countries.

Although schistosomiasis is a widespread infection in the tropics, travellers are almost exclusively infected in sub-Saharan Africa, through exposure to freshwater infested with cercariae of either S. mansoni or S. haematobium.

On 27 July 2007, an outbreak of gastrointestinal infection in a nursing home was reported to the public health authorities in Kranj (25 km northwest of Ljubljana).
