The annual incidence of dengue fever and dengue hemorrhagic fever has increased dramatically around the world in recent decades; the World Health Organization estimates that over 2.5 billion people are currently at risk from dengue viruses worldwide.

A case of tetanus in a child whose parents refused immunisation – Piedmont Region, Italy, 2006
We describe a case of tetanus in a previously healthy 34-month old child living in Piedmont Region, in north-west Italy. His parents refused to continue immunisation after the first dose of vaccine: their decision was influenced by misconceptions about the risks and benefits of immunisation.
